OMSB Overview

The Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) is the regulatory body that oversees the licensure of healthcare professionals in Oman. To practice legally, healthcare professionals must complete the licensure process, which involves:

  • Primary Source Verification (PSV)
  • Credentialing
  • OMSB Exam

A successful OMSB license allows healthcare professionals to work in public and private healthcare facilities across Oman.

Steps Involved in OMSB DataFlow and Exam Registration

1. Primary Source Verification (PSV)

The Primary Source Verification (PSV) process ensures that your credentials are authentic. This verification is conducted by the DataFlow Group as mandated by OMSB.

Details about PSV:

  • What is verified?
  • Duration: 45–60 working days.

Process:

  • Submit the required documents via the OMSB registration portal.
  • The DataFlow Group contacts issuing authorities to verify the credentials.
  • A PSV report is issued and shared with OMSB upon completion.

2. Credentialing

Credentialing is the assessment step where OMSB verifies the candidate's eligibility to practice in Oman. This includes evaluating the educational background, work experience, and PSV report compliance with OMSB standards.

Credentialing Overview:

  • Purpose: To ensure candidates meet OMSB's standards for healthcare professionals.
  • Duration: 10–15 days after PSV completion.
  • Outcome: Approval to proceed with the OMSB exam.

 

3. Exam Registration

Healthcare professionals must pass the OMSB licensing exam to obtain their practice license in Oman.

Exam Details:

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • Exam Provider: Pearson Vue
  • Exam Content: Based on the candidate's profession (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, dentistry).
  • Duration: 2–3 hours, depending on the profession.
  • Frequency: Offered throughout the year, subject to slot availability.

Important Note: Candidates must complete DataFlow Verification before scheduling the OMSB exam.

Documents Required for OMSB DataFlow Verification and Credentialing

Ensure all documents are scanned clearly and uploaded as separate PDF files:

  • 10th STD/SSLC Certificate
  • 12th STD/Plus 2 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
  • Transcripts (UG and PG)
  • Council Registration Certificate
  • Good Standing Certificate (from the council or association)
  • Front and Back Pages of Passport
  • Updated CV (including work experience)
  • Recent Passport-Sized Color Photograph (White Background)
  • Experience Certificates (Minimum 2 years post-internship)
  • Internship Certificate

Timeline and Validity

  • PSV Duration: 45–60 working days.
  • Credentialing Duration: 10–15 days.
  • Exam Scheduling: Based on slot availability.
  • DataFlow Report Validity: Lifetime.
