Overseas Licensing Exam

DENTAL LICENSURE EXAM FOR AUSTRALIA – ADC

The assessment process is for overseas qualified dentists with qualifications that do not meet the requirements for registration with the Dental Board of Australia. It is designed to assess your knowledge, judgement, clinical skills, and professional competence.

The process involves three stages:

  1. Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is the first stage of the dental practitioner assessment process.

  1. Written Examination

The written examination is the second stage of the dental practitioner assessment process.

  1. Practical Examination

The practical examination is the last stage of the dental practitioner assessment process.

Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is the first stage of the dental practitioner assessment process. It determines your eligibility to sit the written examination by assessing your professional qualifications, work experience, registration history, and good standing.

To be eligible to apply for an initial assessment you must:

  • Hold a four-year, full time university dental degree, or diploma, from a recognized university
  • Have held full and unrestricted registration or license in either your home country, or country   of training, with no withdrawal of registration.

 

Timeframe                                         : 8 weeks (Approximately)

Validity                                                : 7 years

Application Period                      : Apply at anytime

Assessment Timeframe         : 8 weeks (Approximately)

Written Examination

The written examination is the second stage of the dental practitioner assessment process. It determines you ‘know how’ to practice dentistry in Australia by assessing your:

  • Knowledge of the science and practice of dentistry
  • Clinical judgement and reasoning skills relevant to dental practice in Australia.

 

Written Exams are conducted by Pearson VUE at various test centers around the world. It is held twice a year, usually in March and September.

A two-day examination testing your application of knowledge to clinical practice.

Eligibility                               : Successful, valid Initial Assessment

Timeframe                          : 5months from application period to results release (approximately)

Validity                                 : 3 years

Practical Examination

The written examination is the second stage of the dental practitioner assessment process. It determines you ‘know how’ to practice dentistry in Australia by assessing your:

  • Knowledge of the science and practice of dentistry
  • Clinical judgement and reasoning skills relevant to dental practice in Australia.
